Preschool Program

At the core of all programs at Pippies Early Childhood Centre is “Belonging, Being, and Becoming” - The Early Years Learning Framework which describes the principles, practices and outcomes that support and enhance young children's learning. The Early Years Learning Framework is a key component of the Australian Government's National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care.

The children in the Pippies preschool room engage in meaningful educational experiences, in a caring atmosphere, that are planned to promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child. Pippies is committed to the idea that through the encouragement of self-expression and curiosity and through explorations of their own world, (both at home and at the centre), preschool age children develop a healthy self-image, a sense of caring, responsibility, learn problem solving and decision making skills.

We often begin by observing the children in their play and then responding to what we see. When their interests and prior knowledge are identified, we then take the opportunity to start an inquiry into it. This then gives us the opportunity to discuss what they want to know and where they want to go next with it.

Through our inquiry approach, the children bring their ideas to the learning process and work with the support and guidance of their educators to seek answers, creatively solve problems and challenge their own thinking. They deepen their understanding of concepts and apply and develop skills and knowledge across all domains of learning as they work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.
